Mediating with Interpreters
Mediating with Interpreters
Where should I seat the interpreter? Who do I look at? How do I know if the interpreter is interpreting correctly? What’s the difference between interpreting and translating?
Come join us for an informative and interactive evening to answer these questions and more.
Together, we will explore the role of the interpreter in mediation settings where parties (or families) speak multiple languages, either the same or separate from mediators. You’ll learn about different forms of interpreting, have the opportunity to case consult experiences in using interpreters, learn what role you, as mediators, should take with interpreters, and observe & participate in a fish bowl mock mediation.
