Peter Serrell Memorial Gifts
Peter Van Horne Serrell, died Nov. 26, 2008 at his home in Portland, Ore. He was 94. A Portland resident since 1980, he was a talented man who was involved with the community in many ways.
In the late 1950s, Mr. Serrell became interested in the field of alternative dispute resolution and for three decades he served as a volunteer for the American Arbitration Association. Later Mr. Serrell became interested in restorative justice, and when a drunken driver killed his daughter Elaine, he initiated a victim-offender mediation for all involved parties, through Resolutions Northwest. In 1995 Mr. Serrell spoke at the Oregon Peacemakers conference for youth involved in conflict resolution.
He remained a friend of Resolutions Northwest. In honor of Mr Serrell’s service to the community, his family has asked that Memorial donations may be made to Resolutions Northwest.
